Broward Housing Solutions Leader Named to DCF Substance Abuse and Mental Health Advisory Council
Lisa Vecchi, president/CEO of Broward
Housing Solutions, has been named to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health
Advisory Council by the Department of Children and Families’ Secretary George
H. Sheldon.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Advisory Council provides a consumer, family and community perspective on the policies, programs and services affecting adults with mental illnesses and children with emotional disturbances, and adults and youth with substance use disorders.
As president/CEO of Broward Housing Solutions, Vecchi brings to the Advisory Council particular expertise in the area of mental health. Broward Housing Solutions, a certified housing development organization (CHDO), provides permanent, supportive, and affordable rental housing to mental health consumers at a cost of only 30 percent of the mental health consumer’s monthly income through its Rental Housing Program, assists with rent payments through its Rental Subsidy Program, provides housing to aged-out foster adults through its Housing Solutions for Young Adults program, and helps consumers become homeowners through its Homeownership Solutions program.
Vecchi, a Hollywood resident, previously served as healthcare executive placing indigent, homeless and disabled clients within skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. Vecchi worked alongside case managers, clinical social workers, and long-term care providers within the tri-county area to accomplish successful placements.
Among her many achievements, Vecchi held the position of CEO/President, business owner and entrepreneur of an independent dental services organization, successfully headed a 28-perons operation team within administration and customer care departments for Medicaid, Medicare, and Florida Healthy Kids, developed and executed effective fundraising campaigns and special events, and lead a six-person community outreach team in placement of homeless persons within Broward County.
Most recently, Vecchi was appointed by the State of Florida Department of Children and Families’ Secretary, George Sheldon, to serve as a member of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Advisory Council. Also, Vecchi serves on the Broward Housing Council with Commissioner Lois Wexler, and, the Broward Chamber of Nonprofit Organizations. Also, Vecchi was honored by National Alliance on Mental Illness’s TIMES Awards (Targeting Individuals for Meritorious and Exemplary Service).
Vecchi, trilingual in English, Spanish and Italian, graduated from State University of New York- F.I.T. with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing Communications and also attended Middlesex Polytechnic College in London, England and Maison De Sorbonne in Paris.
