United Way of Broward County Provides 1000 Lbs of Food to Broward Housing Solutions’ Residents

Nine boxes and five bags equaling 1,000 pounds.  That’s the amount of canned goods – from green beans to apple sauce – that United Way of Broward County gave to Broward Housing Solutions’ subsidized housing residents.  Broward Housing staff separated and packaged up the food for distribution to 168 of its mental health consumer residents.

“We’re very thankful for the generosity of United Way of Broward County, as are our residents,” said Lisa Vecchi, Broward Housing Solutions’ President/CEO. “As people with severe and persistent mental illness who often suffer from the stigma of mental illness, they appreciated the recognition and assistance.”

The non-perishable food items were donated by community members who have a heart for those in need.  United Way of Broward then offered the food to Broward Housing Solutions for distribution to its residents.
