Although chronic homelessness represents a small percentage (16%) of the overall homeless population and the number of people experiencing chronic homelessness is decreasing across the United States, this population consumes more than half of services. *

There is a serious mental health workforce shortage. In states with the lowest workforce, there is up 6 times the individuals to only 1 mental health professional. This includes psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, and psychiatric nurses combined.

Stable housing results in stable mental health

Broward Housing Solutions’ (BHS’) affordable, permanent, and supportive housing saved Broward County taxpayers approximately $2.34M last year by preventing incarcerations at $225 per night and $1,800 for emergency room stays. Donations help offset BHS’ costs to house residents at an average of only $73.80 per night.
